Welcome to Mittens Made Easy (In Person Class)

Mittens are the perfect project for intermediate knitters ready to take their skills up a notch!

If you’re comfortable with the basics and looking for a fun, wearable project, this class is just for you.

Over three hands-on sessions, you’ll learn how to knit a pair of cozy mittens, perfect for chilly weather or gifting. Using standard straight needles, we’ll guide you through every step—from casting on to shaping the thumb—so you’ll finish with a beautiful handmade piece you can be proud of. Let’s knit something warm and wonderful together!

Everyone learns and knits at different speeds, some like homework, and others not so much! Most students find that with completed homework, they need three (3) class sessions of 2 hours to complete the knit mittens. You can book more or less as needed!

Skills Needed:

Basic Knitting Skills: You should be comfortable with casting on, the knit stitch, and the purl stitch. If you feel you need to brush up on your basic skills check out our Introduction to Knitting Class!

Supplies Needed:

skein of worsted/size 4 yarn
size 7 and 8 needles
2 stitch holders
stitch markers

Class 1: Getting Started – Casting On and Creating the Cuff

In the first class, we’ll cast on stitches and begin working on the cuff of the mitten using a stretchy ribbed pattern. You’ll learn the basics of working with both worsted and bulky yarns. By the end of this session, you’ll have completed the cuff and be ready to begin shaping the body of the mitten.

Class 2: Shaping the Mitten and Thumb Gusset

In this class, we’ll focus on knitting the main body of the mitten while simultaneously shaping the thumb gusset. This is where you’ll see the mitten taking shape as we create space for the thumb naturally as part of the mitten body. By the end of this session, the hand portion of the mitten will be nearly complete, and the thumb gusset will be in place.

Class 3: Finishing the Mitten – Decreasing for the Top and Completing the Thumb

In the final class, we’ll work on decreasing stitches to shape the top of the mitten. You’ll also finish knitting the thumb, which has been worked alongside the main mitten. We’ll also cover how to finish and sew up any seams neatly for a polished look. By the end, you’ll have a fully finished mitten that’s ready to wear.

Class Policies

Online Cancellations with minimum 36-Hour Notice

We value your time and our resources.

To manage our small classes effectively, we require a minimum notice of 36 hours for cancellations or rescheduling.

From your ‘My Account‘ page you can cancel or request to reschedule your eligible bookings. Canceled bookings paid by credit card are refunded within 24 hours minus a 5% processing fee.

Booking Changes with Less Than 36-Hour Notice

We uphold a stringent no-show policy to ensure fairness and optimal class experience for all our students. If you fail to attend a class without providing the required 36-hour notice, we are unable to offer a refund or credit for the missed session. This policy is in place to minimize disruptions and financial loss, ensuring that our classes remain viable and rewarding for both students and instructors.

In the event of a no-show, you will need to rebook and pay for a new class at a time that better suits your schedule. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but we encourage all our students to communicate any changes as early as possible to allow others the opportunity to fill the space. This not only supports our community-centric approach but also enhances the learning environment for everyone involved.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the integrity of our class schedules and the quality of your learning experience.

Late Arrival Policy

We understand that delays can happen, but to ensure the quality and continuity of our classes, all students must strive to arrive on time. If you arrive late, you’re welcome to join the class already in progress. However, please note that the class will end as scheduled to respect the time of students scheduled after you and the instructor. Ask your instructor about booking additional studio time to complete your class.

Credit and Refund Process

Credit Card Payments: For cancellations with adequate notice, we’ll issue a refund to your original payment method, minus a 5% processing fee. Refunds generally take 3 to 5 business days to show in your account.

Store Credit, Coupons, Gift Certificates: Upon timely cancellation, your account will automatically be credited for future classes.
