Class Policies

We uphold a stringent no-show policy to ensure fairness and optimal class experience for all our students. If you fail to attend a class without providing the required 72-hour notice, we are unable to offer a refund or credit for the missed session. This policy is in place to minimize disruptions and financial loss, ensuring that our classes remain viable and rewarding for both students and instructors.

In the event of a no-show, you will need to rebook and pay for a new class at a time that better suits your schedule. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but we encourage all our students to communicate any changes as early as possible to allow others the opportunity to fill the space. This not only supports our community-centric approach but also enhances the learning environment for everyone involved.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the integrity of our class schedules and the quality of your learning experience.

We understand that delays can happen, but to ensure the quality and continuity of our classes, all students must strive to arrive on time. If you arrive late, you’re welcome to join the class already in progress. However, please note that the class will end as scheduled to respect the time of students scheduled after you and the instructor.  Ask your instructor about booking additional studio time to complete your class.

Credit Card Payments: For cancellations with adequate notice, we’ll issue a refund to your original payment method, minus a 5% processing fee.  Refunds generally take 3 to 5 business days to show in your account.

Store Credit, Coupons, Gift Certificates: Upon timely cancellation, your account will automatically be credited for future classes.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (Youth Sewing Programs)

Absolutely, every class or camp fee includes comprehensive materials and personal assistance. We expect every student might need some help, and our experienced staff is always ready to support your child’s learning journey throughout their projects.

Fear not, regardless of your sewing proficiency, we offer flexible scheduling for our After School Series or Camp Programs. Beginners receive personalized guidance starting with the basics, including threading the sewing machine, sewing straight lines, and crafting a simple patchwork pillow.  And that's just the beginning!

You need only bring your enthusiasm! For sessions extending beyond three hours, consider packing a snack or some change for the vending machines. While we provide all necessary materials, you’re welcome to bring your own sewing machine or materials if you prefer.

Each youth class is at least 90 minutes long, and completing a project within an hour is typically not achievable. However, we offer storage for unfinished projects, allowing you or your child to continue working across multiple sessions. More complex projects will require additional time.

Our focus is primarily on mastering the sewing machine, although we integrate essential hand-sewing techniques for finishing touches. The bulk of our curriculum is dedicated to machine sewing.

Safety is our top priority. While our studio is a bustling environment, we ensure that our sewing machines and tools are child-friendly. Although minor injuries like pin pricks or minor burns can happen, we are prepared with first aid and have maintained a record of safety without serious incidents for over a decade.

Yes, we encourage parents to drop off their children for classes. We find children learn best when they have the space to explore independently. Parents are welcome to stay, particularly if participating in a lesson, but we suggest focusing on your project to foster a positive learning environment for your child.

We offer a wide range of projects suitable for all skill levels. Beginners start with a level 1 project like a patchwork pillow and can progress through more advanced projects at their own pace. We welcome students to bring personal projects once they're comfortable with the basics.

Our classes maintain a cozy atmosphere with no more than six students, ensuring personalized attention, while camps are larger, hosting 15 to 25 students. We offer different classes for adults and kids, and pre-registration is required for all sessions. Despite the size, our teaching approach remains consistent, focusing on project-based learning.

We provide all necessary materials for class projects, which we prefer to be completed in class to ensure the material costs are covered. If you bring your own materials, you're free to take your project home at any stage.

We recommend packing a healthy lunch or snack to keep your child energized throughout their sewing class. They might also bring money to purchase items from our vending machine, which is stocked with somewhat less healthy options. Remember, a well-fed student is a happy and productive learner!

We take allergies very seriously and urge all parents to consider potential allergens when preparing snacks. As our classes may include children with nut allergies, we recommend avoiding nut-based foods if possible. This approach helps ensure a safer environment for everyone. Please treat our classroom as you would any other public space where allergens may be present.

Our Sew and Save page is regularly updated with the latest promotions and discounts available at our studio. We encourage you to visit our website frequently to stay informed about new deals that could enhance your sewing experience. From seasonal offers to special discounts for repeat customers, we aim to provide value while fostering your creative journey.

I was fairly sure they'd each like the camp - but they were VERY vocal as soon as they got picked up about wanting to go back to camp asap so they could make more projects (pillows! stuffies! pillows for stuffies!) and have more time learning the sewing skills they saw all around them. It was a very supportive environment for new learners - great for self-directed kids and I will absolutely be signing them up again!

My 7 year old daughter is currently going through a phase where she wants to be a fashion designer. So when I found out there was a sewing studio close to home I signed her up for a class. I was a bit doubtful because she was going in with zero experience. She was nervous and told me so before I dropped her off and you could tell she was scared when she was first introduced to the teacher (I didn’t get her name). But when I picked her up, she was so happy and showed me everything she made. She was so excited and asked to go back again. I will definitely be signing her up for more camp days.

Both my daughters (ages 11 and 8) enjoyed a fun filled 3+ hours of sewing this week. They both have prior sewing machine experience, but are by no means experts. They made 4 projects during their time at the studio. They told me they had a blast, would love to go again, and couldn't wait to get to the higher level projects. I personally loved how cute and fun the studio was, and how the projects were broken up by level so the kids knew exactly what they were able to work on. As their first day there, they started at levels 2 and 3. I will be signing them up again soon!

My kid has been asking for sewing lessons for so long and was SO excited to attend their first sewing session. It was everything they had hoped for. The teachers and students were incredibly welcoming and my kid was thrilled to make 3 items in their first afternoon. We will be back! Also, the booking experience was very easy and Brian was very responsive and helpful when I needed to adjust a booking. An all-round pleasant experience. Thank you!

My child has been coming here for Sewing Saturdays and camps for a few years now. This spring break session was another great time for her! She loves working on projects here and I think since the start, she has enjoyed the independence of it too.

We will be back again (and again!).

Our daughter is so picky about camps and dislikes trying new things, so I was nervous about signing her up for sewing over February break. I shouldn’t have been! She didn’t want to leave at the end of each day and had a completed project she felt proud of. Her teachers were friendly, kind, and patient. We’d definitely return!

I brought the boys I take care [5 and 7] of here a few times for summer camp and again for school break and the place is amazing. I was surprised that they had so many projects that appealed to little boys. The staff are so patient and seemed to have no trouble teaching a bustling room full of kids of different ages all at the same time. I thought I would have to sit with the little one and do everything for him but not only did I not have to, I wasn't allowed! They have a very independence-driven teaching style and it was amazing to see the little one take charge of his own project and do difficult tasks like threading a needle without complaining. I think this place is amazing for children, not just to learn to sew but to learn personal responsibility, how to handle minor frustration, how to fix a problem, and above all have fun and make something on their own. The stuffed toys they made are way cooler than all the macaroni art on the fridge ;)
