The Project

Our party project is a patchwork pillow! Guests will have their pick of a huge selection of fabrics making each pillow truly unique. We love this project because even absolute are able to walk away with a unique creation they made all themselves in a little over an hour of sewing time!  If you’re looking for private group class or team building, check out our Private Workshops.

Project substitutions:  We’ve run hundreds of sewing parties with this project so we realize it’s quite possible some of your guests have already made this pillow.  We use this project because it’s successful 100% of the time for 100% of the guests.  100% satisfaction is what you’re looking for during a party, at least we think so!  Over the years we’ve tried other projects with substantially less success.  An hour and fifteen minutes is a very short time to get guests unfamiliar with sewing through an entire project.  We feel the sewing party is all about having fun with your friends and expressing yourself through your fabric choices, it’s not supposed to be challenging or splitting the group by skill level.

If you have a smaller group (8 or less) and you wish to skip the refreshments we can treat your party as a private 2-hour class and everyone can choose from a large selection of 2-hour projects.  Please contact the studio for details and make arrangements to switch from the “party” to the private group class at no charge.

What happens during a sewing party?
Broken down by time:

Party hosts arrive 15 minutes early for setup and orientation.

The party is broken down into the timed sections below so you know what to expect. There’s a lot to get done so we adhere very closely to this schedule.  A 2-hour party includes 30 minutes for refreshments at the end.  The 90-minute party does not include time for refreshments.

0:00 – 0:15 Guests arrive, mingle, and select fabric for their project

0:15 – 0:30 Sewing machine demo and practice sewing

0:30 – 1:30 Project is sewn and finished

If you purchased an additional 30 minutes for refreshments:

1:30 – 2:00 Refreshments served (host provided, 2-hour party only)

2:00 – 2:15 Hosts bid farewell to guests and gather their belongings. Don’t worry about cleaning up, that’s our job!
